Christ Our Rock | Exodus 17:1-7
When we feel that life hasn’t worked out the way that we had hoped, there’s a temptation for us to start grumbling against God. We can feel embittered towards him, thinking that he has in some way held out on us, not provided for our needs, or not come through for us in ways that we expected. God is meant to be good, yet perhaps we have no experience of his goodness in our lives right now.
In this passage, we see that yet again, the Israelites are grumbling against God. They’re still wandering in the wilderness in Sinai, and they’re without water. In their anger, they proceed to put God on trial. Incredibly God submits to be judged, and he ultimately provides them with water. What we’ll see in this text is that because God endured judgement in our place, he grants us true living waters, life everlasting.
