Justice for Sins - Genesis 34

Most of us feel outrage when we see evil and injustice go unpunished. There is a reason that we feel this way. Wired into us, we all have this sense of justice. A sense of right and wrong. And that there is a price to pay if wrong is committed. How come? As image-bearers of God, even though we are tainted with sin, we reflect something of God’s righteousness. We instinctively know good and evil, justice and injustice.

In this passage from Genesis 34, we see a great injustice and evil committed – Jacob’s daughter, Dinah, is raped. Incensed with this evil, her brothers seek revenge on her perpetrator, but in the process continue a cycle of injustice. What we will see in this passage is that there is always a price to pay for sins. Yet thankfully in Christ, that price has been paid.
