What we’re going to see as we look at Psalm 4, is that because God is faithful to his covenant promises, he will not abandon his people. It was this truth that David grasped, and we will see it unfold as we get into this Psalm.

God’s Anointed - Psalm 2

Wednesday Mar 02, 2022

Wednesday Mar 02, 2022

Who is your Jesus? A spiritual guru? A new age hippie, tolerant of everyone and everything? Non-judgemental, loving everyone unconditionally? A son of God, like all of us are sons of God? A social justice warrior? A prophet, teacher and great man, but just a man?
Culture has many ideas of who Jesus is. These ideas naturally influence us. Yet surely our picture of Jesus needs to be informed by Scripture itself? Even as Christians it’s easy for us to just focus on portions of the Jesus of the Bible that we like – that he didn’t condemn the woman in adultery, that he healed the sick, he comforted the mourning, that he came to serve and not to be served. All great and true things about Jesus. Yet we must never lose the broader Scriptural teaching about Jesus – great king over all, God’s anointed king. Some of these things about him may even make us squirm or feel uncomfortable. NB – picture of Jesus we worship must be informed by the whole counsel of God.
Psalm 2 is one of the most quoted psalms in the NT. This is because it speaks very clearly about Jesus. It confirms that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah of God, God’s anointed king.
Preacher: Antonio Coppola.

The Righteous Man - Psalm 1

Wednesday Mar 02, 2022

Wednesday Mar 02, 2022

Does God give us advice on how to live a successful life? Actually he does. Psalm 1 is a great example of a place in the Bible where he does.
Psalm 1 in particular is significant – first psalm, acts as a gateway to the rest of the Psalms. Purpose of the book of Psalms is that it provides a manual for meditating on the instruction of the Lord, so that we can experience a blessed life in him.
So the question that tonight’s psalm answers is: how do you live a life that is pleasing to God? What we’re going to see is that: because the righteous delight in God’s law, they flourish.
Preacher: Antonio Coppola

We look at each of these five points of the Canons of Dort (the doctrines of grace) – all key to our understanding of the gospel of grace. At heart - that salvation is entirely a gift of grace from God, that “Salvation belongs to the Lord.” (Jonah 2:9).

Everything hinges on the historical reality of what happened on that first Easter morning, some 2000 years ago. What we’re going to see this morning, from our text, is that because the gospel is indeed historical truth, it is absolutely central. And because it is central, it is infinitely personal too.
Preacher: Rev. Antonio Coppola.

We’ll see what they are, how they are rooted in Scripture, show how much we are in need of holding to them in our church context and how much our hearts still need to be transformed by their truths.
